Clinical and Sports Massage Therapy
I use an outcome-orientated approach that combine a number of different hands-on bodywork techniques. This could include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, acupressure, myofascial release, medical acupuncture and sports stretching alongside functional exercises and education to help facilitate a client’s own healing process.
Whether the aim is to reduce or eliminate musculoskeletal pain, increase range of motion or promote the positive psychological effects of touch, I can work with the client to create an effective treatment plan towards progression and improvement. My treatments are there to help restoration of bodies to the point where a client feels ready to restart their exercise programmes again or to go about their lives free from pain.
This type treatment can be used to help many things including repetitive strain and sports injuries, back pain, sciatica, chronic headaches, migraine, stress and sleeping problems.
Temporomanidibular Joint Disorder (TMD) or Jaw Pain (TMJ Pain) Massage Therapy
Problems with the TMJ joint can cause a number of symptoms. These can include restricted jaw movement, clicking jaw, face pain, chronic headaches, visual migraines, jaw pain, toothache, tinnitus, balance problems and more. Massage is a non invasive way to help heal and release the muscles of the face and neck. This is turn will help to relieve pain and reduce symptoms experienced. I work gently with the patient to release a number of muscles around the jaw, neck and shoulders.
Pregnancy & Post Natal Massage Therapy
I also offer therapeutic pregnancy and post natal massage to help ease and relieve some of the the symptoms that may occur as the body transitions through this time.
Scar Massage Therapy
When dealing with prolonged periods of pain or restrictions in range of movement scars can often be overlooked. Scar therapy can often found to be the ‘missing link’ in treating unresolved pain when many other avenues have been explored. A gentle but very deep treatment on all types of scars (for example caesarean section, mastectomy, appendectomy). Scar therapy can be used once the scar has healed but it can also carried many years after it has been on the body. It not only helps to improve the tone and texture of the scar but also helps to break down fascial adhesions laid down under the skin that could be restricting range of movement and contributing to chronic pain.
Facial Massage Therapy (or natural lift facial rejuvenation massage)
This treatment can help to relieve deep tension in the face, chest and neck muscles and in doing so provide the face with a natural lift leaving you looking brighter.
This treatment involves a combination of techniques including myofascial release, intra oral work, acupressure, lymphatic drainage and massage therapy. It is deeply relaxing and you come away looking visually refreshed and energised. It is the perfect treatment if you would like to naturally refresh your face without using chemicals or invasive procedures.
However this treatment is also highly beneficial for anyone living with chronic tightness in their neck, shoulders and jaw. It can help with jaw pain, jaw disfunction and chronic headaches as well as aiding sleep.
This can be taken as a stand alone treatment although a series of six treatments would have long lasting benefit.
Myofascial Dry Cupping Therapy
This is available as a stand alone therapy or can be added into your one hour massage treatment.
Originating in China, Cupping Therapy is one of the oldest forms of medical treatment available. Myofascial Dry Cupping is a soft tissue therapy that involves the application of decompressed cups on the skin, creating a vacuum that lifts the underlying soft tissue.
Using massage techniques, areas of muscular restriction and tension are located and myofascial cupping techniques are then applied.
Potential benefits may include
Increased circulation
Increased joint range of motion
Reduced muscle tension
Increased Lymphatic drainage in the local area
Increased connective tissue mobility
Reduction in pain of effected area
